Hertfordshire Police said additional officers would be on duty and carrying out proactive patrols

Police have issued a dispersal order in a town to deter anti-social behaviour linked to Halloween.

Hertfordshire Police said the section 35 order would be in place in Hertford from 16:00 GMT on Tuesday until 04:00 on Wednesday.

On Halloween last year, officers had fireworks thrown at them and two were injured when they attempted to seize the explosives from people.

The dispersal order covers the centre of Hertford.

It includes Hartham Common, Hertford Castle and Mill Road next to Hertford East railway station.

Officers can direct anyone to leave the specified area immediately, and those who do not comply could be arrested.

Those aged under 16 can be taken home to parents or guardians.
