Ashish Sachdev Nahar died after being stabbed in Bedford in June

A 16-year-old boy changed his plea and admitted that he stabbed a man to death.

Ashish Sachdev Nahar, 25, died in hospital after being knifed in Jubilee Park, Bedford, in June.

The teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, had pleaded guilty to manslaughter at an earlier hearing in September.

On Friday, at Luton crown court, his barrister asked for the murder charge to be put to him again.

The youth, who appeared on a video link from Feltham Young Offenders Institution, pleaded guilty to murdering Mr Nahar on the 29 June this year.

Mr Nahar, who lived in Owen Close, Kempston, suffered a single stab wound to the heart at 20:45 BST.

He was taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Judge Simon remanded the youth into custody and ordered a Youth Justice Report to be prepared on him.

Sentencing is due to take place on 20 December.
