A man has been charged with wounding with intent after a suspected acid attack at a Tesco supermarket.
Hertfordshire Police said the victim, who knew the alleged attacker, did not report the assault at first due to its "distressing nature".
It happened between 06:00 and 06:30 GMT on Saturday 15 July at the store on Shenley Road, Borehamwood.
Police said the victim suffered "blistering" after "acidic solution" was thrown over them.
Det Con Ben Nash from the Local Crime Unit said: "We understand that a member of the public may have intervened in Tesco, and we would like this person to please make themselves known to us to help with the investigation.
"Following the launch of our investigation at the end of November, our dedicated team of detectives have now secured a successful charge, with the case preparing to progress through the court system."
The man, in his 60s, was charged with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, causing or administering a poison/noxious thing with intent to injure/aggrieve/annoy, and possession of a controlled Class B drug (cannabis).
He was remanded into custody and is due to appear in court on 3 January.
