A police officer has been stabbed while making an arrest following an incident at a petrol station.

Police were called to BP at Wavendon Service Area in Milton Keynes at about midnight after a man was reported to be making threats with a knife.

The suspect then went to another garage and allegedly threatened a taxi driver, Thames Valley Police said.

The stabbed officer was taken to hospital but had since been discharged, the force said.

A 23-year-old man from Milton Keynes has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place, possession of a class B drug, assault on an emergency worker and inflicting grievous bodily harm on an emergency worker.

He remains in police custody at this time.

Police have asked witnesses or anybody with information to contact them.
