A company has been awarded a contract worth £55m to build a new police headquarters.
Willmott Dixon announced it has been appointed to create Hertfordshire Constabulary's new offices near Welwyn Garden City.
Eleven buildings at the existing headquarters site in Stanborough will be demolished to make way for a new facility for 600 staff.
It is hoped the work will be completed by 2026.
Designed by architects Vincent & Gorbing Associates, the facility will provide a new home for services and departments, including the major crime unit, victim services, and the dog unit, along with the senior leadership team and operational support staff.
Stewart Brundell, managing director at Willmott Dixon, said: "As a proud Hertfordshire-based company, it is fantastic to be starting on site to provide a new facility for our county's police force.
"The new HQ will provide Hertfordshire Constabulary's people with a sustainable, flexible working environment which can be utilised for police and community groups as well."
