A 12-year-old boy was injured in a suspected hit-and-run, police have said.

A grey Fiat 500 hit a lamp-post and a fence, before hitting the child, in Regis Road in Luton at about 17:15 BST on Saturday.

Bedfordshire Police said the driver fled the scene and had not been identified. The passenger was arrested but was later released without charge.

The boy was treated for minor injuries at the scene, officers said.

PC Sharnie Davidson of the force's road policing unit said: "We are interested in speaking to anyone who saw this incident or who may have captured it on dashcam as we piece together exactly what happened."
