Windsor memorial planned for Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Organisers want the memorial to have a modern theme but represent Windsor's heritage
A memorial to honour the Queen's 60 years as monarch has been planned for the Royal Borough.
A competition has been launched to find the winning design as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations in 2012.
Residents and schools are being asked to design the monument, which will be displayed close to Windsor Castle.
As the town has a jubilee statue of Queen Victoria and a fountain celebrating the House of Windsor, organisers are looking for new ideas.
Funding appeal
Organisers said ideas for the memorial should be linked to Windsor and the winner would be announced in March.
Andrew Melville, competition-co-ordinator, said organisers were looking for something current which respected the town's heritage and connections with the Queen.
"We believe the jubilee memorial should be a community initiative that brings together both individual residents and the many businesses located in the Windsor area."
Funding will be through public subscription and the Windsor and Eton Society has launched an appeal for local and corporate sponsors.
Mayor Catherine Bursnall said: "The Queen has been unstinting in her service to our country and this competition is a great opportunity for Windsor to pay its own very personal tribute."
