Domestic abuse programme launched in Berkshire

A new support programme for children and mothers affected by domestic abuse is to be launched in Berkshire.
Run by charity Family Friends, the scheme is the third of its kind to be set up in Windsor and Maidenhead.
The programme will help children understand what has happened in their family.
Trained staff will also help them prepare a safety plan in case they are affected by abuse again. The project will start in January.
Windsor and Maidenhead borough councillor Colin Rayner said: "The programmes have been well received and I am encouraged that the borough and its partners are able to run a further one next year.
"Those living and working in the Royal Borough need to know that all local partners, especially Thames Valley Police, will use their powers to support victims of domestic abuse and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions."
The project, called PICADA (Positive Intervention for Children Affected by Domestic Abuse), is provided in partnership with Berkshire East and South Buckinghamshire Women's Aid and other agencies.
