Four men have been arrested on suspicion of hare coursing and vehicle theft in Berkshire.

Thames Valley Police said officers responded to reports from a gamekeeper of hare coursing in Wantage Road, Brightwalton, on Monday at 1600 GMT.

The force dog unit and helicopter were drafted in and arrested the four in East Isley, near Newbury.

Two men from Staines, aged 45 and 26, a 30-year-old from Slough and a 23-year-old from Maidenhead remain in custody.

Hare coursing, which involves hares being chased by greyhounds and other dogs for sport, has been illegal in the UK since 2005.
