Ikea bid to open Reading store to be decided at meeting

Ikea's bid to open a £10m store in Reading will be decided at a council planning meeting later.

Some residents and businesses have objected to the plan for the store at Pincents Lane Retail Park because of traffic congestion fears.

A meeting with Ikea planners on Monday allowed residents to view the plans. West Berkshire Council is set to make a decision at the meeting.

Ikea said it would create 400 jobs and pledged to spend £5m on roadworks.

The site, which is currently derelict, is near the A4 Bath Road and junction 12 of the M4.
