Slough signs £1 billion regeneration partnership deal

The Curve will be built in the heart of Slough

A deal worth £1bn has been signed to build a new library, leisure facilities, schools and homes in Slough.

The borough council has chosen Morgan Sindall Investments as its preferred partner in a 15-year deal.

The development's first phase will feature The Curve - a brand new library, cultural and community centre in the heart of the town.

More than 500 new homes will also be built on five sites across the borough.

As part of the partnership between the borough council and Morgan Sindall - called the Slough Regeneration Partnership - work experience places, apprenticeships and jobs will be provided to local people.

Known as a Local Asset Backed Vehicle, the borough council and Morgan Sindall will hold 50% stakes in the regeneration partnership.

Councillor Sohail Munawar, commissioner for community and leisure, said: "This is a very exciting time for Slough.

"The designs I have seen for The Curve are fantastic and show how spacious it will be."
