Berkshire's economy will be over £150m better off if Bracknell Forest gets superfast broadband, the council's chief executive has claimed.

Broadband providers are expected to provide 80% of Berkshire homes with the service before the end of 2015.

However, over 37,000 homes will be left without it.

Victor Nicholls, from Bracknell Forest Council, is urging people to support online campaign, external Superfastberkshire to campaign for the service in the area.

Mr Nicholls said that council research estimates that superfast broadband would help create 2,300 new jobs in the area in the next five to seven years and generate £150m.

"Fast broadband is hugely beneficial for businesses and makes the area attractive to commercial investors," he said.
