Reading Station partly shut during upgrade works

No trains will be running through Reading on the Great Western main line.

Rail passengers have been warned parts of Reading Station will be shut from Saturday night until Monday morning for the next phase of its £895m upgrade.

During that time Network Rail will complete track relaying and signalling work, refurbish platforms and remove the last part of the old footbridge.

First Great Western has published a list of diverted routes effective from 23:00 on Saturday to 03:30 on Monday.

Trains from Reading to London Waterloo will still be running.

No trains will be running through Reading on the Great Western main line.

Services from Bristol Temple Meads and South Wales in and out of London Paddington will be diverted via Banbury and Oxford, adding about 90 minutes to journeys.

Services from the west of England in and out of London will be diverted to London Waterloo, adding about 80 minutes to journeys.

Passengers for Reading have been advised to change at Basingstoke.

The station was also partly shut during the Easter bank holiday with the same diversions and minor delays to the works caused travel disruption on Tuesday morning.
