Jerome Small will serve a minimum of 24 years in prison for the murder of Jordan Malutshi

A man has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing a 17-year-old boy to death at a nightclub in Reading.

Jerome Small had denied stabbing Jordan Malutshi, from Clapham, South London, at The Face Bar in Chatham Street in the early hours of 1 July.

The 32-year-old was found guilty of murder following a trial at Reading Crown Court.

Small of Arbour Close, Reading, was told he would serve a minimum of 24 years in prison.

Mr Malutshi was stabbed in the heart at the nightclub and died a short time later at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

'Premeditated and senseless'

In a statement, his family said: "Jordan was a very friendly, sociable and outspoken young man.

"He loved reading books, newspapers, surfing the internet, playing football and computer games, as well as listening to and making music.

"He was also a good student, who had achieved his GCSEs, and after college wanted to become an entrepreneur.

"Although we welcome the jury's verdict, we know we will never have Jordan back."

Det Ch Insp Ian Hunter described the murder as "premeditated and senseless".

He added: "Small has shown no remorse or sorrow for taking Jordan's life.

"Instead, he claimed it was an accident and sought to blame others for his own failings.

"Small will now have a considerable amount of time to reflect on taking Jordan's life, as well as the lasting impact on Jordan's family and friends."
