The men were detained by Metropolitan Police officers
Two British Army soldiers have been arrested on suspicion of possessing ammunition and conspiracy to steal.
The men, who both serve with the Coldstream Guards, were detained earlier at two residential addresses in Berkshire.
The Met Police said the arrests were made by officers from the Flying Squad as well as by the Royal Military Police and Ministry of Defence Police.
The suspects, who are aged in their 30s and 40s, remain in custody.
The BBC understands the arrests follow an investigation into the disappearance of an unspecified quantity of 9mm ammunition, which is used for British Army issued pistols.
