Buses are being brought in to take passengers between Maidenhead, Bourne End and Marlow

A car crashed on to a railway line halting services between London Paddington and Reading.

The car was found on the railway in the Maidenhead area shortly after 05:00 GMT. It meant all lines between Reading and London Paddington had to be shut.

Great Western Railway (GWR) said following checks by Network Rail lines had reopened and services had resumed.

British Transport Police (BTP) said: "No passengers were found inside the vehicle".

BTP added: "Officers remain on scene with colleagues from Thames Valley Police to search the area and recover the vehicle from the tracks."

GWR said travellers could expect delays through the morning as "trains and train crew are displaced".
