Reading: New app introduced at town's libraries

The Library App can be used to reserve or renew books in any of the town's libraries

Residents in Reading can borrow or reserve books with a new smartphone app.

The Library App, set up by Reading Borough Council, can be used at libraries across the town.

Users can search the full council library catalogue to extend their books on loan, access eBooks, audio books and eMagazines.

Multiple library cards for a family can be managed through the app, which is available for Apple or Android devices.

The new Reading Central Library will be incorporated into the Civic Offices

The council said it hoped the app would help users access all the resources available from Reading Libraries wherever they are.

It added librarians, kiosks and book drops continue to be available in the town's libraries during their usual opening times.

The town's new library plans were recently given the go-ahead.

Reading's library will be incorporated into the Civic Offices as part of a £8.6m project.

It is hoped work can begin in March for an opening in spring 2025.
