The owner of Reading Football Club has said he is looking to sell the club's training ground, Bearwood Park.

In a statement, the Chinese owner, Dai Yongge, said he was "evaluating every option" to secure funding until new ownership was confirmed.

He confirmed he was "open to the sale of Bearwood Park, should an appropriate offer be received".

The club previously said the owner was keen to sell and that it had been contacted by "seven or eight bidders".

The statement continued: "Whilst dialogue with potential new ownership groups are progressing, as of today no single party has been granted exclusivity.

"Mr Dai, and representatives, will continue to liaise with interested parties and hope to move forwards at the earliest possible opportunity."

In three seasons, Reading have gone from the Championship to near the foot of League One

Last month, thousands of Reading FC fans staged a protest against the club's owner.

Port Vale FC fans joined in by holding up red cards, calling for tougher regulations on club owners, during their League One match on Tuesday.

In three seasons, Reading have gone from the Championship to near the foot of League One, had 16 points deducted and had transfer embargoes applied as the club failed to fulfil financial commitments.
