The Oracle: Reading town centre flats plan amended
- Published
Developers have amended plans to build hundreds of flats at a shopping centre.
Owners of The Oracle in Reading want to build rental homes, flexible working spaces and shops either side of the River Kennett.
Centre operator Hammerson has revised the proposed heights of the towers that would be added to the Vue cinema building and former Debenhams store.
The number of apartments in the scheme has also been reduced from 449 to 436, according to Hammerson.
Two planning applications, one for each site, were submitted to Reading Borough Council in December 2022.
The revised designs show the height of the apartments south of the river reduced by two storeys, with one storey being added to a flats block at Yield Hall Place, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Hammerson said the changes would allow it to increase the number of three-bedroom properties from 12 to 22, "in response to market demand".
