Young football fans have enjoyed a surprise visit from their hero on a holiday training course.

Reading FC top scorer Harvey Knibbs visited a session on Thursday run by the club's community trust.

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) scheme offers underprivileged children healthy activities and a hot lunch.

Liness, 13, said it was a "surprise" and a "very good feeling" to meet the star striker.

Lacey, 10, said: "It's nice that when [Harvey Knibbs] was seven years old and our age, he had the opportunity to get scouted and that's how he's a big star player and one day that may happen to me."

The Reading forward said: "Being an idol to some of these kids, it's important to give back and inspire them in any way you can.

"[There are] a few good players in there, and hopefully they can represent the club one day."
