The body of a man recovered from the River Thames is believed to be missing person Daniel, police have said.

Thames Valley Police received reports of a body in the water near Sonning Bridge in Berkshire at about 09.30 BST on Saturday.

Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service supported the officers in the recovery operation.

Ch Insp Rob Platt said their inquiries were ongoing but the death was not being treated as suspicious.

He said the force believed the man was missing person Daniel, 39, who had vanished from the Caversham area of Reading in the early hours of 4 March.

"Daniel's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers," Mr Platt said.

He added that a file would be passed to the coroner in due course.
