Birmingham man charged with 1987 Anthony Pryke murder

A man has been charged with murdering a teenager whose body was discovered in a storm drain at his home in 1987.

West Midlands Police said a 43-year-old man arrested on Thursday would appear before magistrates in Solihullcharged with killing Anthony Pryke.

Mr Pryke, 18, was reported missing in August 1987 and his body was found four months later by workmen clearing the drainage system at his home in Chelmsley Wood.

The arrested man has not been named.

The charge comes after an inquiry conducted by the West Midlands Police Review and Case Management Unit.

The unit's senior investigator, Glenn Moss, confirmed that the man, of no fixed abode but formerly from the Chelmsley Wood area, was arrested and interviewed on Thursday and charged with murder earlier on Friday.
