Three men have appeared at crown court accused of murdering three men who were hit by a car as they protected stores from looters.

Joshua Donald, 26, Adam King, 23, and a 17-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared in Birmingham for a preliminary hearing.

All three were remanded in custody.

Haroon Jahan, 21, and brothers Shazad Ali, 30, and Abdul Musavir, 31, died during a night of disorder on Wednesday in Winson Green, Birmingham.

Mr Donald, of Kelsall Croft, Ladywood, and the youth, from Edgbaston, appeared by videolink. Mr King, of no fixed address, was in the dock.

All three are due to appear at the same court for a plea and case management hearing on 9 December.

A seventh man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday, police said.

The 30-year-old man was detained shortly after 10:00 BST.

West Midlands Police has said a 27-year-old man had been bailed pending further inquiries, a 16-year-old boy released on bail on Saturday and a 32-year-old man bailed last week.
