Prince Charles visits injured servicemen in Birmingham

The Prince of Wales has made his latest visit to injured servicemen at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

He saw 16 patients at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, the centre for armed service members injured overseas.

The matron of the neurological science ward said the visits by Prince Charles and the interest he shows had become very important to the patients.

Davina Thomas said: "This is what helps count towards them getting better, it's a morale boost for everyone."

A spokesperson from Clarence House said it was the prince's third visit this year.

She said: "It's something he's very passionate about, he's very keen to show his support obviously to the troops here and also to the support teams of both military personnel and civilian personnel."

She said Prince Charles spent about three hours visiting 16 patients, one of whom he spoke to on his last visit in July.
