Harry raised more than £500,000 for Cancer Research UK

A popular charity walk has been renamed in memory of a Birmingham boy who raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.

Harry Moseley, from Sheldon, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2007 and died in October, aged 11.

He sold homemade bracelets and raised more than £500,000 for his Help Harry Help Others campaign.

The 26-mile annual Birmingham Walkathon will be renamed Walk For Harry, organisers said.

The walk, which is scheduled to take place on 13 May, regularly attracts about 10,000 people.

The BRMB radio station, which organises the event, said money raised would be split between Birmingham's Children's Hospital and the Acorns Children's Hospice in Selly Oak.

Harry's mother Georgina Moseley said the event kept alive Harry's dream of helping others.

"When I was asked before Christmas and went to meetings about this, I just thought 'I've got to make this happen for Harry'," she said.

Harry rose to prominence in 2007 and attracted almost 100,000 followers on Twitter.
