The company which owns Birmingham City Football Club has confirmed advanced talks are taking place with a group in Hong Kong over a possible takeover.

Birmingham International Holdings (BIH) said it was liaising with two groups from Hong Kong and one from the UK.

A statement from the firm said any sale would recognise aspirations of the fans and shareholders.

Current owner Carson Yeung is to go on trial over alleged money laundering later this month.

Mr Yeung, who took control of the football club in 2009, faces five counts amounting to about £59m.
