A lottery winner from Birmingham has lost out on a £1m jackpot after missing the deadline to claim the prize.

The winning ticket was bought in Hodge Hill for the draw on 27 July.

The missing ticket-holder matched the Millionaire Raffle selection printed on the ticket which was DZL787851.

The National Lottery said the prize money, plus the interest it had generated in 180 days since the draw, would now go to its Good Causes scheme.

A spokesman for the lottery said: "We tried very hard to find the ticket-holder and it's a real shame that they have missed out.

"The money will be added to the £29bn already raised by National Lottery Good Causes which has been distributed to more than 390,000 individual awards, communities and projects across the UK."
