A lorry driver has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving over a crash in which a 13-year-old girl was killed.

Hope Fennell was hit by a lorry as she tried to cross Kings Heath High Street in Birmingham on 7 November, 2011.

She was crossing a busy junction on her bike when she was hit at about 17:00.

Darren Foster, 38, of Waldene Drive, Alvaston, Derby, also pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday. He will be sentenced on 2 April.

Foster has been given an interim disqualification, a police spokesman said.

In September, more than 300 people joined a rally in memory of Hope and flowers were laid where she died near the junction with Poplar Road.

Campaigners, including Hope's mother Nazan, have called for 20mph speed limits along the High Street and restricted access for lorries.
