Pavlo Lapshyn in court over 'terror' murder of Mohammed Saleem

A man has appeared via video link at the Old Bailey charged with the "terrorist-related" murder of an 82-year-old Muslim man.

Pavlo Lapshyn, 25, was charged after Mohammed Saleem was stabbed walking home from a Birmingham mosque in April.

He is also charged with one count of murder, two counts under the Explosive Substances Act and one under the Terrorism Act following explosions in Walsall, Wolverhampton and Tipton.

He was remanded in custody.

Mr Lapshyn, who comes from the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipropetrovsk, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

He is next due in court on Friday 2 August.
