Birmingham city centre disorder leads to seven arrests

Broad Street was closed until crowds dispersed

Seven people have been arrested following disorder in Birmingham city centre, in the early hours.

Trouble started on Broad Street outside Gatecrasher nightclub at about 03:50 BST, said West Midlands Police.

Bottles and bricks were thrown at police, and officers trained in maintaining public order were called to the scene.

The arrested men are aged between 19 and 25 and from Sheldon, Hall Green, Billesley and Bordesley Green.

Three officers suffered minor injuries but there were no reports of members of the public being harmed.

Broad Street was closed off until crowds had dispersed.
