It took firefighters several hours to bring the fire under control

An overnight fire at three scrap yards in Birmingham has been quelled by 30 firefighters.

It broke out on Crawford Street and Cranby Street in Washwood Heath at about 23:00 GMT causing damage to multiple vehicles, fire crews said.

The fire, which spread across an area of about an acre, was brought under control at about 04:00 BST.

The cause is not yet known and fire investigation officers and police are at the scene.
