Man arrested over Birmingham tram stop murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering another man who was stabbed to death at a tram stop.

Anthony Banting, 57, from Sparkhill, Birmingham, was found dead on a pathway leading from the Soho Benson Road tram stop in the Winson Green area.

He was repeatedly stabbed after getting off a tram alone at about 16:30 BST on 31 March.

A man in his 20s was arrested earlier and remains in custody, British Transport Police said.

The father-of-four was on his way to meet his son in a nearby pub when he was killed.
