Boy, 16, stabbed to death after Sutton Coldfield disorder

A 16-year-old boy has died after a stabbing in part of Birmingham.

Police were called to Lower Parade, Sutton Coldfield, where the teenager was found injured at about 15:30 BST.

Police said there was disorder and several people were seen fleeing the area before the boy was confirmed dead at the scene.

A murder investigation has begun and the area remains cordoned off while investigations are carried out.

Det Ch Insp Edward Foster, from West Midlands Police, said: "It is tragic that someone so young has lost their life."

At this stage there have been no arrests and no weapon has been found, the force said.

Patrols have been stepped up in the town centre following the death.

Det Ch Insp Foster said he believed a number of people may have vital information and appealed for witnesses to get in touch.
