Three boys have been arrested after three teenagers were stabbed outside a school.

The teenagers were attacked near the University of Birmingham School in Weoley Park Road, Selly Oak on Monday at about 16:20 GMT.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault on Monday. Two 14-year-old boys have since been held on suspicion of wounding.

Detectives have been working with local schools to gather CCTV and take statements, West Midlands Police said.

Insp Noeleen Murrin said: "We believe this was a targeted attack on individuals.

"Nevertheless, we will be carrying out reassurance patrols in around the area over the coming days."

The University of Birmingham School declined to comment and has referred inquiries to the police.

The school is the University of Birmingham's first dedicated secondary school.
