A man is in a critical condition after a car crashed into a tree during a police pursuit.
Police said the 45-year-old was driving the Kia Sportage which, they added, was stolen.
The crash happened at the junction of Warstock Road and Alcester Road South, near Kings Heath, Birmingham, just before 22:20 BST on Sunday.
According to the West Midlands force, the car was first spotted by Warwickshire colleagues on the M42.
It reportedly drove on to the wrong side of the carriageway and a pursuit began.
The man sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital.
A referral has been made to Warwickshire Police's Professional Standards Department and the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Det Sgt Paul Hughes, from West Midlands Police, said: "Our investigation is ongoing and we're collating witness accounts and CCTV and have forensically examined the scene.
"We're really keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed anything, or has dashcam footage."
