Murder probe after woman dies in Ladywood scrubland

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman died in scrubland in Birmingham.

Emergency services were called to the area off Freeth Street, Ladywood, at about 20:45 BST on Tuesday after reports she had been stabbed.

The victim was confirmed dead at the scene.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in custody for questioning, West Midlands Police said.

Officers remained at the scene on Wednesday and inquiries were continuing, the force added.
