Man stabbed relative to death 'in Castle Vale wedding row over gifts'

A man killed a father in a family wedding row, police said.

Mohammed Ibrahim, 55, was stabbed four times at his home in Castle Vale, Birmingham, on 13 March and died at the scene.

His son was also injured in the attack which erupted from a dispute over belongings and gifts, police said.

Ahmad Alsino, 43, of Chatham Road, Northfield, was found guilty of Mr Ibrahim's murder following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

In the moments leading up to the attack, Al Sino, who was related to the victim through marriage, kicked at his front door armed with a knife, detectives said.

He fled the scene after the stabbing, which happened at about 13:00 GMT, but was arrested at his home about 40 minutes later.

Alsino denied murder, attempted murder and possession of a bladed article, but was convicted of all three charges.

He is due to be sentenced on 19 October.

His son Bashar Alsino, 20, also from Chatham Road, Northfield, was found not guilty of murder and attempted murder.

Det Insp Damian Forrest said: "It is truly shocking that a dispute involving family members could result in such a loss of life.

"Our thoughts remain with Mr Ibrahim's family and we hope that the culmination of this trial can bring them some peace."
