More than 20 firefighters continue to tackle Great Bridge scrapyard fire

More than 20 firefighters remain at the scene in Great Bridge

Firefighters are continuing to tackle a blaze at a scrapyard after more than 24 hours at the scene.

An estimated 1,000 tonnes of scrap metal were on fire at the site on George Henry Road, Great Bridge, West Midlands on Wednesday morning.

Five fire engines and more than 20 firefighters remained at the scene.

Nearby Harvills Hawthorn Primary School has reopened and a road close to the site has speed limits in place, West Midlands Fire Service said.

A lane on the A41 Black Country New Road has reopened while George Henry Road and the A461 Great Western Way remain closed.

Nearby doors and windows can be reopened, the service added.
