Two people have been killed in separate crashes on Birmingham's roads.

A man died in a two-car crash on Pershore Road in Selly Oak at 00:36 BST, and the road has remained closed for several hours.

Two people, a woman from the same vehicle and the driver of the second car, were also taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

Earlier, a man in his 20s died when a car struck a tree and a second person suffered life-threatening injuries.

It happened at 13:33 BST on Sunday on Tyburn Road in Erdington on Sunday, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

West Midlands Police said it was keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and had any information or dashcam footage which could help officers establish what happened.
