A teenage boy has been seriously injured in a stabbing inside a branch of McDonald's.

Police said the 16-year-old sustained a single wound during disorder at the site on Parsons Hill in Kings Norton, Birmingham, on Monday afternoon.

He was taken to hospital after being found with a "serious back injury" at a snooker hall a short distance away, West Midlands Police said.

His injures are described as not life-threatening or life-changing.

The restaurant was evacuated and no one else was injured during the incident, the force said.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers are studying CCTV and speaking to witnesses to establish who was involved and what happened."
