A police officer has been taken off front-line duty after a 14-year-old boy was tasered during a neighbour dispute.

The stun device was used on the boy after police were called to Kempson Road, Birmingham on Monday.

The boy, and a man, 37, were later arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, and have been released on bail, West Midlands Police said.

The force has referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

"We understand the depth of feeling from members of the public who have viewed footage of the encounter online," the force said.

It added the footage was being reviewed alongside body-worn footage of the incident in its entirety, to determine whether there had been any wrongdoing.

The IOPC had also been made aware, so it could consider whether to conduct its own investigation, police added.
