Apology over letters to parents sent to wrong Birmingham homes

The city council said no personal information was included

A council has apologised after a number of letters about education options for senior school children were sent to the wrong households.

Some people in the Birmingham area reported receiving letters addressed to parents who do not live there. Some discussed the error on social media.

The city council said it was "looking into what caused the issue with some of the addresses on the letters."

It added "no personal information was included" in the letters.

A council spokesperson added: "We will be writing to those impacted to apologise for any concern this has caused them."

The council would not give further details of the content, but said writing to families about University Technical College options for students going into years nine and 10 was part of local authorities' statutory duty to inform young people about alternative provision.
