Teen rescued when car catches fire as passengers flee the Hall Green scene

Paramedics said the teenager was treated at the scene before being rush to hospital

A teenager was rescued by passers-by from a car that caught fire after hitting a tree while passengers fled.

Paramedics arrived at Green Road in Hall Green, Birmingham, to find bystanders had retrieved the injured teenager from the vehicle.

Other passengers had fled the scene following the crash at about 18:40 GMT on Tuesday, police said.

The teenager suffered serious injuries and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

West Midlands Police said it was investigating and appealed to anyone who saw the passengers or who has dashcam or doorbell footage of what happened to contact them.
