Firefighters tackled a blaze at a chip shop after members of the public reported seeing smoke.

Crews were called to the Ice Rink Fish Bar on Ulleries Road, Solihull, after the fire broke out at about 11:15 GMT.

"A number of fire engines were sent to the premises, which includes a takeaway business and flat above the premises," West Midlands Fire Service said.

One lane of Ulleries Road shut to allow firefighters to work safely.

A picture captured by a pedestrian showed smoke surrounding the fish bar and a nearby row of shops.

Firefighters had left by 13:30 GMT.
