A man has been charged with murder after a cyclist was hit by a car.

Liam Jones, 22, was struck by a vehicle in Sheldon, Birmingham, near the junction of Moat Lane and Vera Road at about 23:55 GMT on Tuesday 1 August.

Police have now charged 19-year-old Abdirahman Ibrahim from Birmingham with Mr Jones' murder.

His brother, 20-year-old Abdullahi Ibrahim from Birmingham, has been charged with assisting an offender.

Abdirahman Ibrahim appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Thursday, where he was remanded into custody ahead of a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.

His brother, Abdullahi Ibrahim, has been bailed to an address outside of the West Midlands.

Det Insp Nick Barnes, who is leading the murder investigation, said even though two people were charged it was still an ongoing inquiry.

'Truly missed'

In a tribute, Mr Jones' family said they were "truly heartbroken" and needed "justice".

Mr Jones was riding an electric bike when he was fatally hit by a car in Sheldon.
