A record number of fundraisers took part this year

Almost 300 Santas ran around Wolverhampton's West Park for the annual festive fundraiser for the Beacon Centre for the Blind.

The number was a record for the event, which was started by city mayor, Michael Hardacre.

Adult participants received a Santa suit for supporting the cause, children got a Santa hat and dogs taking part were given a little wooden medal.

Stella Pitt, from the centre, said it was a "festive morning to remember".

It is hoped the run and a special service will raise £6,000

"We'd like to thank everyone who took part to help us ensure no one living locally has to face sight loss alone," she added.

The charity's annual Forget Me Not Service will take place at its base in Sedgley on Thursday.

Organisers hope the events will raise more than £6,000 in total.
