Wolverhampton: Seven men arrested on suspicion of kidnap

Two cars were stopped by officers in Wolverhampton

Seven men have been arrested after officers said they responded to a live "kidnapping" in a city.

West Midlands Police Traffic Unit said on X it worked with other teams to deal with the incident in Wolverhampton.

West Midlands Police added it was investigating "after two men were abducted" in Wynn Road shortly after 16:00 GMT on Thursday.

Seven men, aged between 24 and 40, were held on suspicion of kidnap and bailed pending further inquiries, it said.

The force said the two men were sat in their car when they were "approached by a group, who forced them out of their vehicle and assaulted them before putting them in their own vehicle".

"Officers were called and tracked the two cars, stopping them on the M6 near junction 7 and detaining the offenders," a force spokesperson added.

Officers seized several weapons for forensic examination.
