Veteran's walks raise more than £43,000 for charity

A 100-year-old World War Two veteran has been walking 40 laps of his garden patio aided by his late wife's mobility equipment.

Inspired by fundraiser Capt Sir Tom Moore, Harold Jones, from Sutton Coldfield, said he was raising money in memory of three friends who had motor neurone disease and died.

Since 2020 he's raised more than £43,000 for charity and was awarded the Points of Light award by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

"I've done everything I can and will do. I'd only originally intended [to raise] a £1,000 and maybe I can get to £50,000," he said.
