Police say they are concerned for the welfare of a man 'deliberately struck' by a car

A man has been "deliberately struck" by a car in Walsall, according to police.

The crash happened on Hospital Street, near the Gladstone Street junction, shortly before 16:40 GMT on Thursday.

A vehicle drove away following the incident but was later stopped by officers in neighbouring Smethwick, police said.

But the individual who was hit had not been located, the West Midlands force added, urging him to get in touch.

Police said they were concerned for the welfare of the man whose identity was unknown.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a Section 18 wounding.

The suspect remains in custody as police inquiries continue.
