Wolverhampton City Council's armed forces support gets gold award

The award was presented at a ceremony in Birmingham

Wolverhampton City Council has again been recognised by the government for supporting the armed forces community.

It has received the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award for a second time.

The local authority first received the recognition in 2018, with the award reviewed every five years.

A spokesperson said the achievement reflected its "unwavering commitment" to supporting the armed forces community in the city.

The council signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2012 and provided support and advice with education, employment, housing and health and social care to veterans and military families, they added.

The award was presented at a ceremony in Birmingham last week.
